Neeharika Kotimreddy
Neeharika Kotimreddy is a 17-year-old senior at Townsend Harris High School and is an aspiring engineer who is very passionate about changing the world for a better future. She is the sole leader of Project India.
She is a part of FRC Robotics Team 2601, the Steel Hawks, and through the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Foundation, this past summer she went to her hometown Nellore in the state of Andhra Pradesh and hosted a three-week robotics program where she taught underprivileged kids in a government public high school the basics of robotics. Neeharika taught students in Zilla Praja Parishth High School of Muthukur, and she taught the students of the 9th grade of which 75% were girls and 25% were boys.
For three weeks, the students simultaneously learned mechanical, electrical, and programming basics and built a driving robot, which they showcased to the head principal of the school the last day. After the entire program, Narayana Engineering College of Gudur, after reading an article about the program in a newspaper, invited Neeharika to give a three-hour lecture on her robotics program and her experience with robotics in the US.
She gave a lecture to about 100 students, all of whom were second/third year undergraduate students studying electrical and computer engineering. Neeharika also got the chance to meet IT minister Mr. Mekapati Goutham Reddy of the state government of Andhra Pradesh and was given a letter of recognition for her robotics program.
